Have You Heard the Good News?
​
The wages of sin is death; but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 6:23
​
Why is the world the way it is?
The world is filled with incredible evil and suffering. And it is filled with incredible good and beauty. Why this mix?
God is good and He created us to trust and obey Him as our Help and Happiness. But mankind has chosen not to seek its happiness in God. We have rebelled and sinned and deserve God’s just punishment.
The evil and suffering in the world remind us of our disobedience to God. The good and beauty in the world remind of us the God who created us and calls us back to Himself.
“You will make known to me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; in Your right hand are pleasures forever.”
– Psalm 16:11

What has God done about it?
God is holy and He must punish all sin – every failure to honor Him and love people.
But God is also merciful, so He sent His Son, Jesus, to do for us what we could not do for ourselves.
Jesus lived the life we could never live: perfect love to God and man.
Jesus died the death we deserve to die: suffering God’s wrath on the cross.
Then Jesus rose from the dead as the only Savior and Lord.
One day He will return to judge all men and bring in God’s kingdom of perfect love and happiness.
“For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God,
having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit.”
– 1 Peter 3:18
​
What must we do?
Jesus is an able and willing Savior for us. And God offers us the forgiveness of our sins and the gift of eternal life: full and lasting happiness in Him!
But to receive this gift we must receive Jesus. We must repent and believe. What does that look like?
We must turn to God for mercy, confessing our sin.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
– 1 John 1:9.
We must trust in Jesus as Savior and Lord.
“If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead,
you will be saved.”
– Romans 10:9.
You can pray right now and ask God to have mercy on you simply because of what Jesus has done!

How then are we to live?
Once we have turned to God and trusted Jesus, we are to live our lives to please God by trusting and obeying His Word, the Bible.
We are to do this with other Christians in a community of believers called the Church. Please join us!
