New Teaching Series at 9 AM on Sundays
Discipleship Training and Counseling Training
This Sunday, February 2, we will start a new series during our 9:00 hour.
We are going to begin a study of Biblical counseling by the Institute for Biblical Counseling and Discipleship (IBCD) with Jim Newheiser.
Each week we will have a DVD video portion and a discussion time to follow.
If you miss a week, you can actually download the IBCD app and listen to the session you missed.
If you would like a student handbook (hard copy or digital copy) you can go to IBCD.org and order one (under Store: Care & Discipleship DVDs & Handbooks).
Dan, Mark, Jackson and I will share the facilitation of discussion responsibilities.
Let me emphasize that this is a counseling and discipleship course.
It serves two purposes: to help you to fight sin and pursue love (discipleship) and to help you help others to fight sin and pursue love (counseling training).
If you want to become a certified Biblical counselor, you could use this training toward that end (go to ibcd.org and look under Care & Discipleship Training).
The course will include three parts:
o Philosophy (What is Biblical Counseling?)
o Methodology (How Do People Change?)
o Specific Issues (Anger, Depression, Anxiety, Marriage, Parenting)
I hope to see you there!
